How to detect phishing messages before you click

Phishing messages often look ordinary until you inspect the details. The strongest warning signs are urgency, unexpected links, requests for passwords or one-time codes, and payment instructions that do not match the official source.

Quick checks

Read the sender address carefully, not just the display name. Scammers often use familiar brand names with unrelated domains, extra characters, or shortened links.

Look for emotional pressure: suspended accounts, missed deliveries, urgent refunds, legal threats, lucky prizes, or limited-time job offers. Pressure is often used to stop you from verifying.

Be careful with attachments and login links. If a message asks you to sign in, open the official website yourself instead of using the link in the message.

Scamy can review suspicious text, links, screenshots, images, and PDFs so you can compare the warning signs before responding.
